Values: Innovation Integrity Patient Experience Teamwork Surgical Admission Unit/Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse Job Summary: Provides clinical nursing in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Provides for the efficient functioning of the ASC and for personal and staff development. Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with patients and other users of the ASC. Oversees the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings. Directs other caregivers in providing patient care. Reports variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager. Provides pre-operative teaching as needed, such as explanation of surgical routine and environment. Processes patients through the ASC. Administers prescribed medications, applies dressings, and monitors vital signs. Assesses the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes. Actively participates in attaining ASC goals and mission. Responsible for personal and staff development by maintaining nursing competencies. Completes all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame. Participates in the preparation of staff development programs. Identifies self-learning needs, establishes personal and professional goals to meet those needs and evaluates attainment of set goals. Demonstrates a positive, concerned, and sensitive response in the workplace. Contributes to the positive atmosphere of the workplace. Interacts with patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous, helpful manner. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patient, families, and staff members. Resolves conflict in a positive manner. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Surgical Admission Unit/Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Associate's degree in Nursing required. Current Minnesota license as a Registered Nurse (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required. One year of clinical experience as an RN in an ambulatory surgical center environment required. Skills & Abilities: Detailed oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a highly active environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to problem solve. Computer and business skills. Self-directed, reliable, consistent. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in medical surgery center settings located in Edina and Burnsville. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk, hear and smell. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Compensation & Work Schedule: Casual (2-6 shifts/month) Day Shift: Monday - Friday; start times vary between 5:45AM-8:00AM No evenings or weekends Starting wage dependent upon experience May be asked to work in either Edina or Burnsville locations All offers of employment at Twin Cities Pain Clinic are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
