The Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.The Small Utility Services (SUS) Department offers an opportunity to work with a unique portfolio of clients. The focus of this group is smaller scale utilities such as Electrical Cooperatives, Municipal Utilities, Rural Electric Associations, Public Utility Districts, Industrial Clients, and others. The ideal candidate possesses a service mindset in-line with our clients. By focusing on serving our clients so they can serve their members, SUS projects are often very hands on with the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on our local communities.Job Summary of Roles and ResponsibilitiesPerform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:One-Line DiagramsSchematicsWiring DiagramsSCADACommunicationsStation Physical LayoutsSections/ElevationsCable and Conduit Plans and DetailsGround Grid Plans and DetailsControl Enclosure Design and DetailsLightning Protection PlansYard Lighting PlansBills of MaterialsPerform system modeling of transmission and distribution systems including, but not limited to:Long Range PlanningConstruction Work PlansEquipment SizingShort Circuit AnalysisProtective Relay SettingsSCADA Equipment SettingsThis role may include occasional travel and field work including, but not limited to:Pre-Design Site WalkdownsConstruction OversightCommissioning/Energization SupportSupport QA/QC for deliverables to clients.Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.Attend internal and external trainings, conferences, seminars, etc.Required Education/ExperienceBSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power focus.Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on.The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.Preferred Education/ExperienceAt least 3 months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis.Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design.Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam OR ability to pass within 6 months.Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for completing tasks.At POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level.
