Job Title: Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial Design team at Kiewit Corporation. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for industrial facilities, including process plants, water and wastewater treatment plants, and manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for industrial facilities, including layout, design schematics, calculations, and conceptual designs.
  • Evaluate and select engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
  • Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners.
  • Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.
  • Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans.
  • Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies, and grounding integrity.
  • Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Work independently on small projects or as part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our clients with the industry's best of both engineering and physical design.
  • Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B, and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing electrical engineering design for industrial facilities, including chemical plants, mining/mineral processing, power, water/wastewater, processing plants, advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, and EV battery.
  • Experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required (or similar software); expertise in relay coordination is highly desired.
  • Experience with SmartPlant or similar software for design.
  • PE preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression.
  • Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable.
