Mirus Bio is expanding and has an immediate opening for an onsite part-time research and development (R&D) Intern to join our growing team based in Madison, Wisconsin. The primary goal of this position is to support the R&D Biology Team with laboratory and computer-related tasks.

We are currently on the lookout for a hands-on individual to join our passionate team. This is a part-time on-site position. This role works cross-functionally with all departments within Mirus Bio.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform general laboratory maintenance duties.
Perform cell biology experiments and assays including (but not limited to) transfections, flow cytometry, and luciferase expression in cells in vitro and generation of recombinant viruses such as lentivirus and adeno-associated virus (AAV). Supporting molecular biology assays include (but are not limited to) ELISAs and dPCR.
Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and electronic tracking of experiments in a timely manner when applicable.
Interface and work amicably with other R&D and Production scientists.
Adhere to Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) guidelines and standard laboratory practices to create a safe laboratory environment.
Conscientious operation of laboratory equipment and general awareness and maintenance of laboratory cleanliness and organization.
Share information with fellow employees.
Build positive relationships during internal and external interactions.
Demonstrate behavior outlined within the Mirus Bio Employee Handbook.
Perform other duties as assigned by R&D Group Leader.

REQUIREMENTS

Education : High school graduate

Professional: Ability to work productively in a team environment.
Capability to work in an organized manner, to make critical observations, and to maintain good records of the results.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position has a pay range of $12.00 - $13.00 per hour and will be commensurate with experience.

A typical work schedule would be 5-20 hours per week during the semester, and 20-40 hours per week during the summer and available holidays.
