Senior Accountant , you will be a vital member of our finance team that prepares, researches, analyzes and reports accurate and timely financial information for the organization.

Responsibilities

Completes month-end closing responsibilities and prepares appropriate journal entries.

Supports the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and comparison of actual to budgeted results.

Analyzes financial statement transactions and records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring proper and timely recognition of revenue and expenses.

Completes timely and accurate reconciliations of assigned General Ledger accounts.

Completes grant reimbursement requests for multiple levels of government in accordance with 2 CFR Part 200.

Assists in development of budgets for grant requests.

Reviews grant contracts and modifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Provides timely and accurate accounting and reporting for assigned areas of responsibility, which include mortgage servicing, payroll and benefits, treasury activities, unclaimed property, records retention, etc.

Maintains appropriate internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.

Analyzes current processes, recommends and implements improvements.

Prepares ad hoc analyses and/or miscellaneous financial reports as needed.

With support from the Director of Finance and the Leadership Team, prepares the budget and related financial forecasts and updates.

Assists in the management of the Finance team in the preparation of work papers and supporting documents for the annual audit and Form 990.

Maintains fixed assets.

Assists in managing AP process.

Job costing, AIP.

Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger and accounting concepts.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks accounting software.

High level of confidentiality, honesty, integrity, and self-awareness.

Ability to work individually and as a member of a team.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to positively interact across all levels of the organization, and with vendors and customers from diverse backgrounds.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities with short deadlines and maintain attention to detail.

Ability to work regular office hours, 9am – 5pm, with flexibility regarding peak-time work requirements.

Education and Experience

BS/BA in Accounting is Required.

CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.

Public Accounting experience also a plus.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role.

Not-for-profit and/or financial services experience a plus.
