Job Summary:

The Collection Specialist position is primarily focused on collecting balances owed for pharmacy services after Insurance

Payments have been received (co-payments), or for Private Pay patients. This position operates in a long-term care facility. This role may use standard office and/or pharmacy equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, rolling carts, fax machines and etc. A large portion of work shall be performed in the long-term care facility where the noise may be loud.

Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Contacting an average of 50-60 patients daily, to collect past due balances
  • Processing patient payments via credit card or bank account
  • Setting up payment plans and recommending settlement options when appropriate
  • Responding to patient correspondence based on company policy and patient circumstances
  • Resolution of billing issues
  • Utilization of research/skip tracing tools, to make contact with patients when limited information is available
  • Process accounts to third party collection agency

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed
  • May lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
