The Role

Xos is seeking a skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to play a crucial role in resolving problems and communicating findings to cross-functional teams and departments. You will engage in technical work such as performance and data analysis, parts measurements, tools and fixtures calibration, and equipment validation. Monitoring our manufacturing processes, quality data systems, first pass yield, scrap, and continuous improvement opportunities will be key aspects of your role. As a Quality Engineer, your efforts will ensure the implementation of best practices aligned with Xos manufacturing objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with operational departments to drive corrective and preventive action activities related to Xos quality and warranty.
  • Develop and release product/process control plans, inspection standards, quality and testing plans and instructions, visual work instructions, technical specifications, and various manufacturing validations.
  • Co-develop electronic work instructions and quality control tasks in MES (Visual Factory).
  • Support the development of FMEAs to identify potential risks in manufacturing processes and product design, and assist in resolving high-risk design features.
  • Lead problem-solving activities for quality issues through root cause investigation and development/implementation of preventative and corrective actions.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement of the manufacturing process.
  • Report program launch readiness and progress toward program objectives in a timely and complete manner.
  • Execute assigned continuous improvement activities and develop quality system objectives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical principle (Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Manufacturing, etc)
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and assembly plant processes
  • 2+ years of Quality experience on high volume production lines, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Hands-on experience and success in applying quality problem-solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training (preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in quality root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001:2015 or IATF 16949 standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks effectively.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis (10%)


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be comfortable lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 50lbs. and using their hands and arms to operate tools and equipment.

Work Environment
This job generally operates in a plant environment as well as a professional office environment and engineering laboratory facilities. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud depending on the equipment being used.
