The Role
As a Commissioning Technician at Xos, you will play a crucial role in commissioning and end-of-line testing of our vehicles and sub-systems. Your responsibilities will include validating the operation and performance of mechanical, wiring, and electrical systems through various stages of the build process.
As successful Commissioning Technician, has a strong technical background, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for ensuring the highest quality standards in vehicle production.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough vehicle commissioning activities to ensure all components and systems are installed and calibrated to meet quality standards.
- Validate the correct operation of each system and verify the performance of electrical systems using advanced test equipment.
- Perform comprehensive end-of-line testing on vehicles and sub-systems to ensure functionality and performance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify and troubleshoot wiring, control systems, and any deviations from specifications.
- Support the creation and implementation of sub-system tests before final vehicle assembly to reduce end-of-line testing.
- Document and report any defects, malfunctions, or deviations from specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to address and resolve issues encountered during the commissioning process for continuous improvement on vehicle design and production process.
- 4+ years of manufacturing assembly experience, preferably in electric vehicle and/or automotive manufacturing; relevant certifications and vocational training are a plus.
- Proven experience in commissioning and end-of-line testing of vehicles and subsystems is advantageous.
- Experience in programming, machine controls, or electronics validation and testing is highly preferred.
- Expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical systems and familiarity with electronic test equipment setup and operation.
- Strong knowledge of electronics and electronics systems integration and verification.

- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy components, and working in various positions for extended periods of time (bending, kneeling, and reaching)
- Must be able to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50+ lbs
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects and tools
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures typical of a manufacturing setting
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required by company safety policies
