FUNDING Visit Seattle's financial support comes from a variety of sources. These include revenue fromthe Seattle Tourism Improvement Area hotel assessment,a contract for services paid bylodgingtaxescollected by the Seattle Convention Center inSeattle and King County, contributions from Visit Seattle's dynamicmembershipprogram, its marketing efforts, service contracts with the government, and other miscellaneous income. The organization's current operating budget stands at $38million, primarily funded by the Seattle Tourism Improvement Area (two-thirds),the Seattle Convention Center(one-quarter), and other revenues as mentioned above. MEMBERSHIP Visit Seattle is a membership-basedorganization, linkingmore than750 local businesses with the profitable visitormarket. These businessesbenefitfrom the exposure of their products and services to this audience. Additionally, Visit Seattle's Membership team organizes four“signature”events annually, alongside orientations and networking opportunities,andfacilitatingconnections and growth within the community. POSITION SUMMARY TheChief Financial Officerwill lead the financial strategy and management of Visit Seattle. This executive roleis responsible foroverseeing all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, financialplanningand reporting;interface withVisit Seattle’s Treasurer,thefinance committee, board of directors, STIA advisory boardandSeattle Convention Center leadership;captain theannual auditprocess;andliaisewith the City of Seattle’s treasury department. TheChief Financial Officerwill ensure that Visit Seattle's financial practices support its mission and help it thrive in a competitive market. This role demands a leader with both strategic vision and practical financial skills, capable ofexcellent people leadership,managing complex budgets and providing financial insights and forecasts to guide the organization's decisions andeffectiveness. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and oversee the financial strategy of Visit Seattle, ensuring alignment with its overall strategic goals. Lead the finance team in managing day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, budgeting, and monthly financial closing processes. Prepareaccurateandtimelyfinancial reports and present them to thePresident &CEO,Visit Seattle Boardof Directors, Seattle Tourism Improvement Area Advisory Board, and finance committee. Implement andmaintainrigorous financial controls and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Drive the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts to supportinclusivebusiness planning and decision-making. Act as a financial advisor to thePresident &CEO and board members, offering insights and recommendations on financial planning, risk management, and resource allocation. Applying managerial accounting practices, collaborate with department heads responsible for budgetary sections to develop financial models and metrics that drive efficiency, cost reduction, and overall financial health of the organization. Lead audit preparation and communication with the audit team, including involvement in preparing the annual 990 return. Engage directly withthe financeto enhance internal accountingexpertise. Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, vendors, and partners, to ensure the organization'sfinancial interestsare well represented and protected. Overseeourresourceinvestment strategy and manage organizational funds to ensure financial health and sustainability. Lead financial negotiations on behalf of Visit Seattle, including contracts, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives. Champion continuous improvement in financial processes and systems,particularly embracing and leading the technology side of the department. TOP PRIORITIES Cultivate strong connections with internal stakeholders, such as department headsand others who manage financial resources. Quickly develop working knowledge of our teams in marketing, convention sales & services, communications, memberships, destination services, and operationsto ensure a foundation of trust and cooperation across all levels of Visit Seattle. Build andmaintaintrusting relationships with the threekey boardsthat provide funding and governance for Visit Seattle: the STIA Advisory Board, the Seattle Convention Center Public Facilities District Board, and the Visit Seattle Board. We are actively seeking a diverse pool of candidates from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Amaster’sdegree or CPA is preferred. Minimum of15years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within a non-profit, tourism, or related sector. Preferred system experience with Sage Intacct and BILL Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy). Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategy and manage financial operations effectively. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills. In-depthknowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles, including experience leading clean audits Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a variety of stakeholders. Commitment to the mission and values of Visit Seattle and a passion for promoting tourism. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
