What you’ll do:

The Director of Purchasing will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the purchasing department, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for the companys HVAC and plumbing operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management in the HVAC and plumbing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring the best terms for pricing, quality, and delivery.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and procurement metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Operations, Sales, and Finance, to forecast demand and ensure timely availability of required materials and services.
  • Oversee inventory management to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies related to procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring effective cost control and financial performance.

Required for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, preferably within the HVAC and plumbing industry.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
