Summary
Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs and uniqueness of our patients/visitors. Functions as a Patient Access Services Representative in addition to Emergency Care Tech. Responsible for registration of inpatient, outpatients, and emergency room patients. Conducts professional patient interviews obtaining demographic, financial, and biographical information. Responsible for cashier duties including the collection of patient co-pays at time of service in the Emergency Department, collecting estimated cost of service in outpatient areas, as well as receiving payments on patient accounts. Answers patient questions regarding estimate or outstanding balance and provides patient with payment options or offers Financial Clearance assistance. Responsible for the delivery of service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.
Education
Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA, EMT or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkview's Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire; 2 years' experience in a healthcare related field, training time will be determined based on experience; currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations; currently enrolled in a pre-Physician Assistant program (will require either CNA certification upon hire or 2 weeks of formal on the job training); if hired prior to 12/3/18, two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. If candidate is at least 17 years of age but does not yet have a current high school diploma/GED, must meet the following requirements: must be actively working towards high school diploma/GED and receive within 1 year of hire.
Licensure/Certification
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred.
Experience
Prefer one year minimum experience working in emergency services or patient care setting.
