Position Details

The Macdonald-Kelce Library at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Part-Time Library Technical Assistant who will provide coverage during weekend hours. Primary responsibilities are providing customer service at the Circulation desk, supervising students, assisting patrons and guests, and performing opening and closing duties. This position also assumes responsibility of the building when a supervisor is not on duty. This position reports to the Circulation Manager.

Responsibilities
1. Provide helpful and supportive customer service with all library patrons.
2. Supervise and train student assistants.
3. Check in/out and renew library, ILL and Reserve materials.
4. Instruct and assist patrons with library equipment (e.g. scanners, computers, printers, microfilm readers, etc.)
5. Assist in the sorting and shelving of returned materials.
6. Monitor library entrance and public areas to ensure that patrons follow library policies.
7. Assist with Library opening and closing duties.
8. Other duties as assigned.
9. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications
1. A high school diploma.
2. Ability to work evenings and weekends as designated by the department.
3. One (1) year experience in a library setting preferred.
4. Familiarity with basic computer operations.
5. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
6. Good communication and organizational skills.
7. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.

8. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule Hours during academic year: Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
