We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to capture accounting data, process daily transactions and ensure a high level of accuracy and accountability. The Senior Accountant will report to the firm’s Controller.
General Summary: Responsible for maintaining the firm’s financial records, including, but not limited to, the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations. The position’s primary duties involve ensuring the accuracy of financial data, adherence to accounting principles, and compliance with regulations while working cohesively with team members and attorneys to ensure efficient and superior client service.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Record financial transactions accurately into appropriate accounts, post debits and credits, and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
Month-End and Year-End Close: Prepare and review journal entries, update account balances, and contribute to the preparation of financial reports during the month-end and year-end close processes.
Account Reconciliation: Conduct thorough reconciliation of general ledger account balances with statements and reports to verify accuracy and completeness.
Financial Analysis: Identify and analyze variances in account balances between periods, providing insight and explanations as needed.
Audit Support: Prepare documentation for internal and external audits, collaborate closely with auditors, and assist with audit procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Compliance: Follow standard accounting principles and company procedures, actively participating in compliance efforts to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams to address and resolve accounting related issues, fostering effective communication and cooperation across departments.
Cash Management: Maintain detailed journal entries for internal and audit purposes.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the timely distribution of monthly financial statements to relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accessibility of financial information.
Process Improvement: Contribute to ongoing efforts to automate accounting processes and procedures, improving efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Tax Compliance: Support the preparation of financial review documentation and assist with the completion of tax return paperwork, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Managerial Support: Serve as backup to Finance Manager as needed, providing support with supervisory duties and ensuring continuity of operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
3+ years of relevant work experience required. CPA is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles is essential. This includes knowledge of debits and credits, journal entries, reconciliation, and financial statements.
General knowledge of excel with the ability to analyze and organize.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Team player and a positive attitude is necessary.
Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Hybrid options available. This position depends upon the ability of the employee to work closely with attorneys and staff members during regularly scheduled hours. This position requires the ability to work overtime, which often cannot be predicted in advance.
Location: Irvine, CA
Salary range: $85,000 to $95,000 per year
