OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Collecting and researching data for studies or evaluations of programs/operations; AND
Experience and/or application of accounting/auditing standards in a work setting; AND
Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and approving procedures to provide findings.
OR
one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in the major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR
you may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement, must equal at least 100 percent.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing audit data to support conclusions; AND
Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and approving procedures to support or develop findings; AND
Assisting with writing segments of draft audit reports and preparing audit work papers.
OR
successful completion of a masters or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LLB or JD if related.
OR
you may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-05level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment:
Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
