As a growing company, we are looking for new team members to help us continue in our success. Currently, we are seeking an Associate Category Manager who assists in all facets of product source selection and procurement functions. This is an entry level position.

The Associate Category Manager is responsible for helping manage all aspects of a product category, including developing and implementing buying, pricing, and marketing strategies based on business trends and opportunities in the market. The Associate Category Manager also selects, develops, and maintains quality vendors to ensure relationships are mutually beneficial to the business, and creates and drives action plans to ensure quality service to internal teams and customers. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain a high quality of customer service and support to the Merchandise Manager and Senior Category Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn and assist with negotiating the following with the vendor community.
  • Marketing Support.
  • Payment and Freight Terms.
  • Other matters pertinent to the Orgill vendor relationship.
  • Learn and assist with vendor line and assortment reviews per assigned department(s) using the Strategic Category Analysis (SCA) tools.
  • Assist with selling booth space and prepares order forms for Buying Events.
  • Attends Dealer Markets and assists with coordinated activity for assigned merchandise.
  • Responds to questions and requests for information from dealers, sales representatives, and vendors.
  • Adjust and Maintain Orgill's stocking assortment in the assigned category.

**Other duties may be assigned.

Success Factors: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of and ability in using various software applications, particularly Microsoft Office products and the Google Platform.
  • Experience with an automated buying system is a plus.
  • Polished negotiation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical abilities with ability to review facts and weight options when solving problems and making decisions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with good listening skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, proceed with objectives with little or no supervision, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
  • Ability to organize materials, manage time, and prioritize tasks.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Three to five years experience preferred in a same or similar field.
  • Must be willing to travel to Company Dealer Markets as well as infrequent training opportunities where they present themselves requirements may vary.
  • Regular, on-site, in person attendance required.
  • Retail experience preferred.
