Seeking a Environmental Manager/Project Manager within the Cement Manufacturing Industry

I am seeking a dynamic and experienced Environmental Manager/Project Manager for my client's ever growing team in the cement manufacturing industry. Based in Virginia, you will play a pivotal role implementing internal environmental policies, programs and standards whilst ensuring environmental compliance for Federal, State and local regulations. The person in this role is an integral member of the management team and is expected to act as a role model on all safety behavior and policy compliance, while helping to create and maintain a high performance culture.

Environmental Manager Job Responsibilities: Manage the implementation of environmental policies and practices at the assigned facilities to ensure full regulatory compliance. Facilitate environmental auditing processes and ensure effective implementation of the findings related to this activity. Evaluate operations and make recommendations to reduce site waste, pollution, and/or contamination. Act as internal consultant to environmental compliance to obtain environmental, land use and development permits. Responsible for communication and negotiation with the regulatory agencies Coordinate and ensure that all environmental monitoring and recordkeeping occurs at each of the assigned locations Knowledge of all current Federal, State and Local environmental legal requirements and monitor developments and/or changes. Interact with community members regarding the plant’s environmental aspects and social license to operate. Develop and maintain a relationship with site and area operations managers to ensure required level of support is provided.

Project Manager Job Responsibilities: Lead and manage projects simultaneously within the cement manufacturing industry, from initiation to completion. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, procurement, and construction to ensure project objectives are met. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resources allocation to optimize project performance. Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of projects. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mining Engineering, and Environmental Science, Geology or closely related discipline or equivalent experience required. 5-10 years experience with (environmental compliance) and building materials industry preferred. Strong communication skills, customer service skills and leadership capabilities. Demonstrated ability to interact with senior business and community officials. Excellent analytical and judgment skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem solving skills and experience developing solutions in a team environment. Excellent time management skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced multimedia environment.
