Job Summary
The Fiber Shift Coordinator is responsible for producing high quality Dyneema Fiber in the most cost effective manner and according to the production plan, while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards. Executes the plans and directives from supervision and management.
This position requires frequent interaction with technicians and supervision within the Fiber production organization as well the process engineers and maintenance personnel. This person manages the day-to-day production documentation, resource planning, maintenance activities, and other routine daily items to help reach our daily and weekly goals.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and ensure that all environmental systems are in good working order and take immediate actions when not.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements, recipes, SOP's, and other related documentation and activities. Ensures company guidelines related to company policies relating to quality, safety, housekeeping and cost effectiveness are met. Helps maintain consistency across shifts.
  • Provide leadership. Participates in performance management with supervision. Provides low level counseling for employees on shift.
  • Facilitate teamwork within the shift and in conjunction within the entire Fiber production group. Aid in gaining resources for the team to fulfill objectives. Encourage team members to understand corporate and departmental goals/objectives and needs. Provide communication and/or direction to the production employees. Disseminate needed divisional, unit and corporate information to employees on a timely basis such as Safety and Key Performance
  • Indicator information. Establish and maintain an open line of communication with all employees.
  • Directs the efforts of Fiber Technician I's, Technician II's, and Console Operators. Directs support help during the off-shifts.
  • Plan the use of raw and intermediate materials for optimum quality and output. Refines schedules for 20 production lines, including verification of recipes. Plan resources for production demands and machine assignment.
  • Verifies production system information accuracy and completeness. Ensure daily audit paperwork is complete and filed and any outages communicated and resolved. Reviews quality information daily and makes consults with supervision to adjust.
  • Administers PPE to employees.
  • Administrative fill-in for Supervisor when they are out of the office.
  • Evaluates training needs and ensures all training is conducted appropriately. Authors and approves SOP's.
  • Issue work notifications. Coordinates repairs and PMs with maintenance.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental programs. Promote waste reduction and recovery projects and incorporate associated operations in applicable manufacturing processes. Ensure staff is trained on current waste disposal procedures and prevention procedures. Identify opportunities to minimize waste and to recycle.
  • Ensure proper storage and disposal of liquid and solid hazardous wastes in Fiber production area.
  • It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.
  • Perform routine inspections of hazardous waste storage facilities, logging required data. Safely handle liquid and solid hazardous waste.
  • Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Authorized to approve work permits per details included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities.

  • This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the Avient Protective Materials (Greenville, NC) work site. Worker has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes. Training is required within six months of worker assuming duty, and once a year thereafter. Worker is responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes. Worker may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste.
Education and Experience
  • Three (3) years experience in a production environment, including two (2) years of demonstrated leadership in a team environment, resulting in sound functional understanding of production processes. Two (2) years technical school in a relevant technology, plus two (2) years relevant experience in industry to include two (2) years of demonstrated leadership in a teamwork environment, resulting in sound functional understanding of production processes. BS/BA in related technical field with 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • The Shift Coordinator will operate within the Greenville Fiber Production organization. Lead the daily production aspects of fiber operations relating to compliance documentation, routine production tracking, resource planning for technicians, and maintenance activities requiring an outage. They also work with Process Engineers for optimum production and special requests.
  • Ability to effectively lead team performance and to identify developmental opportunities for team members.
  • Firm understanding of production planning and scheduling activities.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations related fiber and fiber production activities.
    Ability to drive improvements in production lead times and to minimize rejected material.
