SUMMARY
The Financial Counselor is dedicated to helping patients and physicians determine sources of reimbursement for hospital services. Identifies and assists patients who are unable to pay their estimated liability prior to treatments or who have large existing balances. This assistance includes assessing a patient's liability, linking patients to available funding sources, and determining whether they are eligible for charity care or financial hardship treatment. Do you have strong financial and data analysis skills and also thrive when helping others? Do you like problem solving but also enjoy developing personal relationships? This position is great for individuals who balance caring and compassion with technical details, accuracy and strong financial and analytic skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma-GED required.
* Associates degree in business or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a position resulting in understanding of patient financial counseling, public assistance, health insurance, managed care.
* Working knowledge of insurance and healthcare regulations, field terminology related to credit and collections, experience with Federal, State and County public assistance programs.
* Fluent in written and spoken English. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred, but not required.
Pennsylvania State Police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance, and an FBI criminal history check required.
