Houston, United States Cornerstone Capital Bank Full time
Description

Cornerstone Capital Bank is a new bank, with over $330 million in capital and $2.3 billion in total assets, and arises from the combination of mortgage industry giant Cornerstone Home Lending and community banking standout Roscoe State Bank. We provide middle-market and community bank commercial lending in the major urban markets of Texas and in the areas around Bastrop, Sweetwater, and Roscoe, Texas. You'll be on the front end of working for an innovative large community bank that is a leader in mortgage lending and community banking and growing in middle-market commercial and real estate lending.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal credit professional will have diverse experience in commercial credit approval, underwriting, and lending roles, and have the social and analytical skills, and judgement, to serve in a commercial credit approval capacity. Substantive experiences in commercial real estate credit and in commercial and industrial credit, in the Texas market, will be valued attributes.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as a credit approval officer, loan committee member, and guide for commercial lenders and underwriters on acceptable borrowers, projects, and credit structures. Credit approval may involve some or all of community banking, middle market, and corporate C&I and CRE credit opportunities, which may include agriculture, private banking, lender finance, fund finance, and other niche commercial lending, including syndicated credit opportunities, along with the credit risks associated with treasury management products and derivatives.
  • Assess early credit screenings, provide guidance on credit issues that need resolution, and advise on appropriate credit structures. Provide mentoring and guidance to relationship managers and credit underwriters.
  • Effectively serve on credit management project teams and on drafting of credit policy or other credit program documents.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers and other team members to assess client needs and banking products, design effective solutions, and deliver outcomes to benefit clients and the Bank.
  • Stay abreast of the latest financial and banking product knowledge, financial markets, and relevant regulations and business trends.

What you'll need to be successful:

Success in this job relies on your time management skills, organization, and positive attitude. In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:

  • Fifteen-plus years of experience in diverse commercial credit, with a preference for exposure to Texas markets.
  • Completion of a formal commercial credit training program is preferred. Experience with a regional bank's credit offerings is preferred.
  • A bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting is generally required, and relevant graduate work and/or certificates are valued attributes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees, management, internal committees, and clients.
  • Must be proficient with organizational skills, ability to identify and solve problems/issues, and ability to manage multiple workstreams. Credit Officers must effectively multi-task.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and preferably some experience with Salesforce and nCino.
  • Office/Remote - this role may be remote, or in-office in one of our existing facilities. Preference would be a residential base in Houston or Dallas, with ready access to travel to our commercial banking markets.

Where you come in:

We are a great company with great people. We value a collaborative and collegial environment with a steady emphasis on great customer service and on progress toward goals.

We invite you to explore Cornerstone and to consider making this your last career destination.

What we offer:

Because we recognize and reward hard work, we offer a competitive salary, a full benefits package, and the potential for a performance-based bonus.

What to do next: If Cornerstone sounds like the place for you (and if you have the qualifications, drive, and passion to match), we invite you to become a member of our winning team And remember, once you're part of our Cornerstone family, we'll continue to invest in you as a valuable asset in our company. As many of our team members can tell you, there's something special about working at Cornerstone.
