Amsted Automotive Group, Geneva Piston Pin Operation, seeks a Quality Engineer responsible for maintenance and improvement of quality systems, analysis of manufacturing process performance and resultant quality, the application of the quality control plan, and the continual improvement of the processes. This position will develop and maintain the quality planning that will support the quality objectives, financial metrics, and KPI's. It will also support the plant engineering, production, and materials teams as well as oversee the control of measurement equipment (inspection, calibration, and testing) to drive customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, promote, and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodologies, and quality plans to support the goal of zero defects.
  • Support and maintain the Quality Management System.
  • Report to the team on quality issues, trends, losses.
  • Participating in internal and external audits.
  • Engage with and support the APQP and PPAP processes to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Develop, deliver, and support competency training programs that impact the process and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist suppliers in meeting the requirements of Burgess-Norton via visits to suppliers to perform audits, develop criteria for quality acceptance, verify methods and equipment to ensure quality standards, and build outstanding suppliers.
  • Lead and implement highly effective corrective action to eliminate and prevent product and system nonconformities, both internal and external.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and other activities to increase customer satisfaction and process performance.
  • On occasion, visit customers remedy concerns and support audits, validations, on-site training, and service.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Must have high personal ethical standards.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Minitab.
  • Effective written and verbal communications at all levels of the organization.
  • Document Control experience including preparation of Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Statistical Process Control and monitoring experience (Control charts, Gage R&R, Capability analysis).
  • ISO 9001 experience required, IATF 16949 preferred.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (e.g. Six Sigma) methods.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA and new product launches.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause determination experience using established methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, DMAIC, 8D, Kepner Tregoe, or DOE.
  • Practical technical experience with GD&T.
  • Familiarity with gage design, use, and calibration as well as AIAG MSA application.
  • Six Sigma Green belt or higher preferred.
  • Experience managing customer communications including issue resolution and relationship building.
