Company Description

Our client is looking for a Director, Human Resources, to join their Southern California office. This role will be an important member of their team, supporting over 1200 employees with a focus on Operations and HR Compliance.

This role will provide counsel to leadership and employees, and manage a team of four that support LOA, Workers Compensation, HR Compliance, and Employee Relations.

Their ideal candidate is someone who has been in heavy hourly populations, who has a passion and sound understanding of HR Compliance, ER, Coaching, and People leadership experience.

What Youll Do:

  • Provide excellent advice and counsel to senior and mid-level managers related to

carrying out their responsibilities on employee matters.

  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues and handle all aspects of resolution,

including performance issues and compliance.

  • Partner with the internal employment Counsel in investigating and resolving

employee concerns and/or complaints including bringing best practices in investigation, documentation, and ensuring equity in resolution.

  • Manage HR and Compliance team employees. Management duties include, LOA, Workers Compensation, Employee Relations.
  • Update existing organizational policies and procedures and develop and draft new

policies and procedures as needed in regards to Safety, ER, LOA, and Workers Compensation.

  • Communicate changes in policies and procedures when applicable.
  • Offer guidance and advice on interpretation and implementation of policies.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal and compliance requirements related to

day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risk, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Provide supervisors guidance in coaching, mentoring, and, when necessary,

managing disciplinary matters with their staff.

  • Oversee and mentor a team of four HR professionals who focus on day to day management and administration of LOA, Investigations, and Workers Compensation.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years HR experience in a heavy hourly population (Retail, Property Management, Hospitality)
  • 3+ years of people leadership/management experience with a strong desire to develop others
  • Must be a strategic business partner, aligning HR operations and compliance to the overall business objectives
  • Bachelors Degree in HR, Business, Operations, Legal Studies
  • Passion for HR compliance and employment law, with a strong understanding of California employment law.
  • SHRM, PHR, or related HR certifications highly desired
