Key Responsibilities:
Secure a Major Project within the Region > $150m every year.
Meet or exceed the budgeted profit for the Project.
Deliver to specific annual targets including safety, the environment, and quality.
Establish relationships with core clients nominated for company promotion.
Provide all activities in such a manner to ensure a safe working environment.
Promote total job safety and environmental awareness to employees, subcontractors and all persons on projects and stress to all employees and subcontractors the importance senior management attaches to safety and the environment.
Compliance with appropriate OH&S Legislation.
Oversee the effective management and successful and timely completion of project.
Manage the Project Manager to ensure their duties are carried out in accordance with objectives.
Assist with developing professional depth within the Business Unit/Region.
Assist in the preparation of operating budgets and ensure agreed objectives for new work won, EBIT, safety and the environment are achieved.
Carry out Client Reviews at the end of every Project.
Management of Construction Methodologies for adoption in Tenders.
Carry out all Performance Reviews with resultant "actions" implemented.
Planned HSE and other training to be carried out.
Assist with identification, researching the marketplace for new Civil and Marine opportunities.
Assist with building existing and recommending and establishing, new relationships with key clients, consultants and partners in the region.
Promotion of a professional image of the Company’s operations and maintenance of harmonious relationships with Clients and/or their representatives.
Maintain knowledge in the following areas:
Competitors operations
Contract and Insurance Law
Regulations pertaining to construction
Safety regulations
Conditions of employment applicable to various areas of operation
Company IR policies
Accept responsibility for:
Authorising suppliers and subcontractors within approved amounts
Industrial and personnel matters
New Business direction, marketing and forward planning for future growth
Assist with recruiting professional staff.
Implementation of the Company MacDow Management System (MMS).
Liaison with Company’s Plant Business Unit to ensure Company assets are effectively utilised and maintained.
Any other duties as may be required by the Company.
About You:
To be considered for this role, you will have;
Minimum of ten years’ experience in major construction project management.
Broad understanding of wide range of construction techniques, HS&E responsibilities and risk/contingency assessment.
Broad understanding of construction and infrastructure design principles.
Competent in understanding and interpretation of conditions of contract affecting all stakeholders.
Sound understanding of financial reports, e.g. Budgets/Forecast, and interrogation of project financial reports (Workbench).
Working knowledge of IMS, Industrial Relations, awards and Enterprise Agreements.
Understanding of estimating principles.
Proven ability to lead, direct and deliver results within agreed time frames.
Absolute integrity and acumen with demonstrable success in negotiating and problem solving within a structured, outcome driven process.
Clear and definitive communication – both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
