Duties include but not limited to: Provides direct patient-centered care as delineated in the list of clinical privileges for Neurology. Provides comprehensive general neurological care to outpatients, including patient history, neurological examination, diagnosis, follow-up as needed, medical record documentation according to standard and acceptable practices. Assimilates the results of diagnostic studies (i.e., EMG, EEG) into the formulation of a differential diagnosis and treatment plan. Works collaboratively with other specialists and Primary Care PACT teams to ensure patients receive continuous quality care. Prescribes medications according to federal and state law. Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of neurologic care delivered to their assigned patients. Perform neurologic procedures, such as NCS/EMG, EEG interpretation, and/or Botox administration, commensurate to his/her individual training and expertise, in accordance with local VA credentialing and privileging requirements. Provide education to other physicians and healthcare professionals regarding neurological disorders and their treatments. Provide education, supervision, and mentoring to Medical students, residents, and fellows in neurological disorders and their treatments. Participate in inpatient, outpatient subspecialty duties as assigned, including on-call assignments. Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.
