Position Title: Childcare Director/Parish Bookkeeper Reports To: Pastor FLSA CODE: Non-Exempt The Saint Alphonsus Parish Childcare Director and Bookkeeper provides day to day fiscal and operational services as well as computer input/output services in addition to budgetary compliance for both the parish and the daycare center. They also oversee the center in its day-to-day operations, as well as the hiring/firing of the staff with Pastor's consent. Essential Functions: • Oversees day-to-day operations at the Center o Direct oversight of all employees of the Center o Hiring/Firing of any employees of the Center with Pastor's consent o Oversight of the Center grounds, their maintenance and operation o Applying for and maintaining government grants o Preparation of the annual Center budget • Provides bookkeeping and payroll services to the Parish o Prepares payroll utilizing Paylocity Payroll Systems including associated taxes and reporting o Provides computer services utilizing Quickbooks Pro for accounting o Prepares bank deposits and records receipts o Prepares invoices for payment o Prepares checks for signature by Pastor o Reconciles parish books o Prepares financial statements o Attends all financial council meetings as requested o Preparation of the annual Parish budget o Monitors day to day cash flow o Monitoring of parish budget on an ongoing basis • May be asked to performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities, as directed Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its mission • Strong organizational skills • Excellent interpersonal communication skills • Good Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and QuickBooks • Proficient in use of the Internet • Good record keeping skills • Good facilitation skills • Good telephone etiquette • Ability to present oneself professionally • Knowledge of accounting and budgeting • Knowledge of payroll processing and payroll tax reporting • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently including developing and maintaining effective record-keeping systems • Ability to compose correspondence, minutes and/or reports • Ability to represent the parish to those that call, write or visit • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality • Ability to adapt to small office setting • Ability to adapt to changes in routine or schedule • Ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision • Must be self-motivated • Ability to meet deadlines • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Ability to adapt to changes in routine or schedule • Must possess excellent analytical skills • Ability to work in a small office environment • Good manual dexterity Educational Requirements: -Bachelor's or associate's degree or higher in early childhood, child development or elementary education or Accounting/Finance OR -Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or one-year diploma in child development from a community college or technical school Experience/Training Requirements: -At least one course in business administration or 12 contact hours in administrative-related training -One year of administrative-related experience -Certification in infant, child an adult CPR and First Aid -Certification in Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training and Essentials preservice training -Must qualify under the Iowa Child Care Licensing requirements Experience/Training Preferences: -Full-time (20+ hours per week) or Part-time (less than 20 hours per week) in childcare center, preschool setting, or child development related experience -Registered child development home provider -Completed training for childcare development in the last five years -One to three years secretarial experience -Three to five years' experience in hands-on bookkeeping -Experience in utilizing Paychex Payroll Systems and Quickbooks Pro Accounting Systems Responsibility for Quantifiable Measures: -Preparation and administration of annual budget for parish and childcare center -Accountability for Parish and Center funds and accurate and timely reporting -Adherence to deadlines for timely payroll tax reporting -Accountable to Pastor and Finance Committee for financial statements -Adherence to State guidelines regarding the operation of a childcare center -Timely application and administration of any/all possible government grants for the proper maintenance and operation of the Center Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: -Requires prolonged sitting -Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push objects or materials up to 25 pounds -May require occasional stooping, bending and reaching -Will work in an office setting with office machines -May require prolonged data entry and use of a calculator -Will need to walk daily into the center to observe activity #J-18808-Ljbffr
