Overview In collaboration with the Infection Control Practitioner and Director of Quality Management, the IC Coordinator is responsible for supporting hospital-wide infection prevention efforts, performance improvement projects, and compliance with regulatory agency regulations (JCAHO, DHS, etc.). This role includes specific daily, weekly, and monthly tasks assigned by the ICP. Responsibilities include: Making phone calls to various clinical units to inquire about isolation patients daily and recording the information as required. Daily reporting of data to CDPH, LADPH, and national regulatory agencies like NHSN. Occasional rounding on nursing units to make direct observations and record data. Limited staff education and support for ICP in providing educational materials. The IC Coordinator is expected to demonstrate motivation and high energy in a fast-paced environment, showing continuous learning as designated by the ICP. Punctuality and commitment to patient safety program goals are essential. Other functions include the use of databases, word processing, spreadsheet development, graph production, and PowerPoint presentations. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of SGVMC, demonstrating behaviors consistent with the Core Values of AHMC, and supporting SGVMC’s strategic plan and performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Responsibilities Participates in orientation/review classes for hospital employees on Infection Control policies, standards, and practices. Designs and conducts educational programs for nursing staff, other hospital staff, and physicians. Serves as a working member of the Infection Control Committee, providing data abstraction and analysis to support policy evaluation. Collaborates with the ICP to develop policies, procedures, and guidelines promoting optimal health and safety. Assists nursing and medical staff in assessing infections and implementing appropriate control measures. Evaluates policies for the Employee Health Department regarding infection prevention and control. Advises ancillary departments on isolation procedures, environmental cleaning, and equipment selection. Acts as a consultant to other healthcare agencies in investigating suspect problems and staff education. Disseminates new information on infection control measures to relevant departments. Participates in ongoing surveillance of infections in patients or employees. Detects outbreaks and provides recommendations for infection control. Evaluates adherence to Infection Control Policies and identifies risks. Analyzes data to implement remedial measures and informs hospital employees. Assists in reporting communicable diseases to health authorities. Makes environmental rounds to monitor compliance with Infection Control Procedures. Conducts studies relevant to Infection Control Programs for policy development. Disseminates and interprets infection surveillance data to committees. Assists in planning corrective actions and establishing future goals. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications College graduate with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; healthcare experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred; public health work preferred. Previous clerical, database management, or unit secretary experience preferred. Detail-oriented with a high level of initiative. Moderate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong service orientation. Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
