Position Summary The Supervisor for Electric Distribution oversees employees working on maintaining or constructing parts of the electric distribution grid. They lead teams within specific divisions, aiming to deliver safe and reliable electric service while adhering to regulatory requirements like the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) General Orders and safety regulations. The supervisors play a crucial role in implementing safety best practices and ensuring compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Job Responsibilities
  • Travels around 20% of the time, sometimes with overnight stays, to ensure timely and budget-friendly completion of maintenance and construction projects while upholding quality standards
  • Develops and implements action plans to address process deficiencies or employee skill/knowledge gaps, tracking progress effectively
  • Offers constructive feedback, maintains work documentation, monitors crew productivity, and seeks productivity enhancements
  • Reviews and improves operational practices, makes informed decisions based on technical knowledge, and prioritizes safety, cost, and customer impact
  • Focuses on meeting customer needs while maintaining clear communication, conducting team meetings, and interacting with local authorities
  • Acts proactively during emergencies, supervises staff, and ensures team performance through various HR processes
Qualifications Minimum:
  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, field maintenance operations, or similar electric utility roles
  • California Driver's License required by first day of employment
Desired:
  • Experience in the electric utility sector, preferably as a Journeyman Lineman
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety standards and continuous improvement
  • Strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working in challenging environments
  • Proficiency in utilizing business metrics for performance management
  • Previous experience with cross-functional team leadership and process enhancement
  • Ability to influence and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Exceptional communication skills and the capacity to present to diverse audiences
