Position Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team The EH&S Coordinator will serve as the subject matter expert in occupational safety and health and will lead the organization to a safety conscious culture. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing procedures that effectively manage incident rates and health exposures within the company. Under the direction of the HR Manager, this person will also be responsible for the administration and management of the company's safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, employee training, and Worker's Compensation claims management.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in food manufacturing or occupational safety and health. B.S. or B.A. degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experienced in program management.
  • Experience with standard office equipment and proficiency in computer usage (email, MS Office).
  • Bilingual in Spanish (communication) required; Proficiency in writing and reading a plus.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment and understanding of packinghouse/warehouse processes and operations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Experience in interpreting and enforcing OSHA regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and well developed observational and analytical skills.
  • Success in leading and influencing people, in addition to developing strong relationships across all levels and functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading Behavior Based Safety programs and initiatives.
  • Experience in administering personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis between facilities, if applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Leads the plant in the development and coordination of safety training programs.
  • Responsible for managing and leading all incident investigations from reporting, claim management, return-to-work accommodation process, investigation reports, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Manages Worker's Compensation reporting and recordkeeping, following State requirements.
  • Oversees company incident statistics and metrics, and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas, such as OIR, Days Safe, etc.
  • Facilitates and creates training paths for new hires orientations (Alchemy Safety Training Platform).
  • Facilitates all New Hire orientation with site specific safety information (eye wash station, IIPP, etc.).
  • Conducts safety-related New Employee trainings during the onboarding process for direct and temporary workers.
  • Maintains OSHA Documents and Records in files for time frames as specified by regulations.
  • Conducts audits against OSHA 300 Logs, WC Files, Incident Investigation Folders, safety hot packets, and ensures updated information and forms are included.
  • Submits reports and data to all federal, state, and local agencies in a timely manner as mandated.
  • Leads annual safety events, such as Evacuation Drills & Exit Warden trainings, among others.
  • Serves as the liaison between the company and health care clinics.
  • Manages Safety Equipment/Gear (safety glasses, masks, etc).
  • Plans, organizes, and holds monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Assists in the oversight of internal PIT certification program and oversees program file management.
  • Conducts scheduled audits to assist management in determining workplace hazards and assists in developing corrective actions.
  • Hosts Safety Walks with Leadership/Safety Committee to identify hazards within the plant with corrective actions.
  • Conducts Safety Standdown in partnership with the Management Team.
  • Coordinates and manages Hearing Conservation Program - Audiograms.
  • Manages First-Aid inventory for all sites.
  • Ensures the company follows applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitors facility for safety issues and violations.
  • Maintains Hot Work permits for work done on the property or in the plant.
  • Maintains Hazardous Waste material plan, including manifests and records.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or as requested.
Physical Requirements/Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $30.00 Per Hour
