General Ledger Accountant

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Complete month-end closing tasks for the general ledger, including preparation and posting of entries related to prepaids, reclassifications, and various other accruals
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Perform quarterly General Ledger activities, such as reconciliations, exception reporting, and other related tasks
- Review, maintain, and implement processes to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Perform regular reviews of cost center balances to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide reporting and analysis to the Finance Team, and other relevant functions as needed
- Support the independent financial audit
- Maintain appropriate internal control
- Provide general ledger support as needed fostering collaboration and consistency
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure alignment and to support the changing needs of internal customers
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of general ledger or public accounting experience
- Demonstrated general ledger accounting knowledge
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- US GAAP knowledge and experience
- Can communicate accounting concepts to non-financial associates
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to build relationships and be a strong business partner
- Ability to travel 5%
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools
- Ability to travel up to 5%
