OVERVIEW: We are a high-end, automated machinery builder seeking a Controls Systems Designer & Programmer to support the development of automated machinery. We work on an ever-changing variety of projects for our customers, and produce high-quality, reliable machinery for production environments. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship and quality. Under the direction of the President, the Controls Systems Designer & Programmer will provide technical support for mid-scale to large projects. The Controls Systems Designer & Programmer drives root cause analysis using technical knowledge. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop PLC and HMI programs for new machines and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and functionality. Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to understand the project requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of PLC and HMI programs to identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies. Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of new systems, ensuring a smooth transition to production. Continuously optimize and improve existing PLC and HMI programs to enhance overall system performance and efficiency. Train and mentor junior technicians on PLC programming best practices and techniques. Robotics experience is a plus and would be utilized in the integration of robotic systems with PLC controls. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in PLC programming and HMI development. Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram. Experience with PLC hardware and software platforms, such as Allen-Bradley, Keyence, Siemens or Schneider Electric. Strong understanding of industrial automation concepts and principles. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems. Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision in work. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
