The Nutmeg State LSAMP Director, based at Southern Connecticut State University but representing all four Connecticut State Universities (CSUs) as part of this grant funded program, will oversee and monitor all aspects of the Nutmeg State LSAMP programs, including student scholars, on-campus activities at each alliance institution, and coordination among the institutions. These duties will include day-to-day operations, managing finances, creating and writing monthly reports for submission to the LSAMP Governing Board, holding biweekly meetings with the LSAMP Executive Director and monthly meetings and ensuring close collaboration among the four Institutional Coordinators (one at each CSU), managing project personnel, overseeing and helping to coordinate larger LSAMP program activities, making monthly campus visits to each CSU, overseeing student recruitment and retention efforts, and maintaining communication with the grants office (SPAR). Position Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day oversight and management of the LSAMP grant, ensuring compliance with goals, deliverables, and doing so within timelines of the grant. Collaborate with LSAMP Institutional Coordinators in all aspects of their program development, operations, and coordination. Coordinate regular daily operations and larger LSAMP programs that involve all four LSAMP institutions. Keep the Executive Director and Governing Board fully informed. Work with all partners in the Alliance, the Lead Evaluator, and the Executive Director, maintain regular communication with NSF LSAMP Division. Insure proper use, maintenance, and oversight of the LSAMP budget. Develop and implement processes to monitor ongoing success of LSAMP students; assist the Lead Evaluator in the collection of data from across the Alliance. Coordinate faculty and staff participation in LSAMP programs, in partnership with Institutional Coordinators. Produce monthly reports that outline activities, progress, issues, etc. for submission to the LSAMP Governing Board and Executive Director. Serve as the contact person for all LSAMP questions and issues. Work with each institution in assisting a coordinated marketing and recruitment process. Regularly reach out to Institutional Coordinators to maintain a sense of “alliance” and help troubleshoot as needed. Represent the Nutmeg LSAMP Alliance at relevant conferences and meetings. Play a lead role in all aspects of the LSAMP objectives with a focus on student recruitment, retention, and success. Participate in additional grant related activities and initiatives as needed. Qualifications

Required:

A Master’s degree in a STEM field with at least one year of experience working with college students; multicultural, diversity and inclusion awareness and relevant programmatic experience; a commitment to working at a university with a social justice mission; ability to manage and coordinate multiple colleagues and partners across universities; strong dedication to student success; effective engagement across multiple stakeholder groups; strong collaborative skills; effective communication skills, both oral and written; experience managing budgets; and ability to travel between all cooperating institutions. Preferred:

Post-graduate leadership experience involving college students in a STEM related program; experience in project management; experience in grant generation; experience in creating learning communities; experience in creating off-campus externships; experience in diversity recruitment and retention programs; strong abilities to multitask; strong data management skills; and experience supervising students and student employees.
