Under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services, the Associate Director for Academic Support provides academic support, mentoring, and advocacy to students and provides proactive strategic outreach to students that need additional support, especially students facing academic difficulty. The Associate Director assists students to improve their academic performance and provide oversight of all academic content support services (i.e. Tutoring, PALS, Peer-Led Study Group). The Associate Director will serve as a vital resource to students, faculty, and staff in helping to break down academic barriers for students. The Associate Director will collaborate broadly across campus to work with the Director in developing a comprehensive, innovative, and robust academic support menu and student-centered learning environment. Essential Functions

Provides leadership, planning and supervision for the content-specific academic support within the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services and university-wide programs, including online support for students, through a culturally responsive lens. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional staff, student employees, University Assistants, and other staff as necessary. Complies with the CRLA accreditation guidelines and implements a corresponding training. Maintains CRLA certifications for student leaders Levels 1-3. In collaboration with the Director, works to ensure that all academic support information and communication technologies developed, procured, and implemented provide an equitable experience for all users. Assists the Director in the design and implementation of an assessment program for academic support services to include the development and assessment of program goals, learning outcomes and measurable objectives to determine the effectiveness of programs, enhance the well-being of students and improve the learning of student employees. Builds, develops, and maintains the Southern Testing Center. Assists the Director in managing departmental financial resources and budget specifically related to academic support. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships and support with department chairs, deans, faculty, and administrators in order to develop and evaluate needed academic support for students. Strategizes and develops a marketing plan to bring more and new students to the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services who need academic support and face academic barriers. Plays an active role and involvement within the University events to help promote Academic Success. Maintains extensive knowledge and currency in best practices in academic success including the use of technology to support students’ learning. Develops new innovative programming and initiatives for students. May involve occasional work in the evenings and/or on weekends. Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position. Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in education or related field (i.e., higher education, counseling, teacher education, student development) Minimum of four years of knowledge and experience working in academic/learning support. Demonstrated ability to be creative, develop innovative academic support programming, and independently manage projects Strong interpersonal skills Experience supervising students and/or staff Demonstrated commitment to creating a just and inclusive community, intercultural competency, and enthusiasm for working at an institution committed to social justice. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in cognitive development and learning Experience working with faculty across campus Experience with tutoring specific software and new technology within academic success centers Proven ability to work independently, as well as with a team. Experience in one or more of the following areas: tutoring, supplemental instruction, curriculum and instruction design, academic workshops, academic success coaching, and/or experience in a classroom, especially within remedial or developmental courses. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Application
