Position Summary:As a Lifeguard, you will ensure the safety and well-being of all pool users by maintaining optimal swimming conditions on the pool, deck and surrounding areas. You will also foster a positive and welcoming environment that encourages safety and engagement in accordance with Facility policies and procedures.
A minimum of 2-3 lifeguards are on duty during all operating hours (including but not limited to team practices, programs and public swim.) Typical hours include Monday-Thursday 5am-8pm, Friday 5am-7pm, Saturday 7am-7pm and opened Sunday only if a Meet is scheduled.
This role pays an hourly rate of $16 to $17.

About the Venue:Since its grand opening in 2011, the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) has emerged as one of the top aquatic facilities in the nation. A state-of-the-art facility featuring cutting edge concepts in aquatic design, the GAC is located on the campus of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Southeast. Built at a cost of nearly $19 million, the GAC brings together all major aquatic sports competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and other unique sports - all in one venue. The GACs versatility offers Greensboro the opportunity to host high school and collegiate events, USA Swimming meets, U.S. Masters Swimming and U.S. Water Polo events as well as myriad local, regional, national and international competitions. The GACs impressive national swim meet resume includes numerous NCAA, ACC, YMCA and USA Diving competitions. According to the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau, the estimated economic impact of GAC events exceeds $224 million.
Responsibilities:- Primary duty is to maintain constant surveillance of swimming and diving areas to ensure the safety of swimmers/patrons.
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations, including administering first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in distress and administering CPR if necessary.
- Assist swimmers from the water, enforces swimming pool regulations; assists in teaching swimming, assist pool supervisors in operation and maintenance of pool and program.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies rules and regulations.
- Maintain and complete required training and applicable certifications.
- Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
- Complete records and reports.
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
- Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Current certifications in the following are required: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
- Assessment of lifeguarding skills and knowledge.
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
