The High Line is both a nonprofit organization and a public park on the West Side of Manhattan. Through our work with communities on and off the High Line, were devoted to reimagining public spaces to create connected, healthy neighborhoods and cities.

Nearly 100% of our annual budget comes through donations. The High Line is owned by the City of New York and we operate under a license agreement with NYC Parks.

Job description

The Senior Venue Sales Manager is responsible for securing and executing revenue-generating events and film & photo shoots on the High Line, including but not limited to experiential marketing events, cocktail receptions, seated dinners, fashion shows, commercial advertising shoots, and motion picture shoots.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development, the Senior Venue Sales Manager is a critical member of the development team.

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position.

**Requirements**

Primary responsibilities

* Evaluate and respond to a high volume of event and shoot inquiries and determine their viability for the High Line

* Lead calls and site visits with prospective clients, agencies, and vendors; serve as the High Lines primary venue sales representative

* Negotiate and secure a wide variety of events and shoots

* Prepare contracts, manage contract negotiations, and approve COIs, with support from the Senior Director of Business Development

* Create planning checklists, event overviews, production schedules, and other internal briefing materials

* Collaborate with High Line operations staff to delegate and ensure the timely completion of event-related tasks

* Collaborate with Visitor Services Associates and other High Line operations staff to ensure the seamless execution of events and shoots; oversee on-site client relations and assist with troubleshooting any issues in a timely, professional manner

* Collaborate with members of the development team to ensure the seamless planning and execution of events hosted by corporate partners, board members, individual donors, and foundation funders; provide a high level of customer service to strengthen these important relationships

* Manage relationships with preferred production partners, caterers, and other recommended vendors

* Liaise with NYC Parks to obtain special event permits on behalf of clients

* Develop draft content for, and ensure the timely fulfillment of, promotional benefits for public-facing events

* Collaborate with the communications team to update and maintain external-facing venue sales materials, including sales decks, event planning guides, and webpage content

* Identify and execute cost-effective ways to promote the High Line as a safe outdoor venue; develop content for e-blasts, award submissions, paid advertisements, and other promotional materials

* Identify, research, cultivate, and engage prospective clients and third-party agencies; secure event bookings through this proactive engagement

* Develop, strengthen, and maintain referral relationships with neighborhood venues

* Attend webinars and networking events to maintain professional knowledge, forge new connections, and raise the High Lines visibility within the event industry

* Prepare invoices, gift routing paperwork, and acknowledgment letters for event and shoot payments

* Maintain a tracking system for event and shoot inquiries; create and maintain client records in Raisers Edge, including actions, notes, and relationships

* Contribute to the annual budgeting and OKR setting process

* Review financial reports throughout the year to ensure revenue and expenses are classified correctly

* Assist with other administrative duties and high-priority initiatives as needed, including staffing for High Line fundraising events and donor cultivation and stewardship activities

Required Qualifications

* 5+ years of venue sales experience

* Experience with, and comfort in, delivering sales pitches, negotiating revenue, and securing bookings via email and phone, and in person

* Superb attention to detail and time management and organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines

* Superb writing, listening, speaking, and interpersonal skills

* Ability to maintain positive and collaborative relationships with clients, vendors, and colleagues

* A positive attitude and solution-oriented mindset

* Ability to make quick decisions and act with minimal direction, while knowing when to escalate an issue or ask for support from upper management

* Ability to cope with ambiguity, complexity, and change in a fast-paced work environment

* High level of computer literacy, including experience with Google platforms and Microsoft Office

* Ability and willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends for events

Preferred Qualifications

* Venue sales experience at New York City public parks, cultural institutions, and/or landmark buildings

* Experience securing and managing public-facing events

* Experience interpreting and negotiating agreements

* Press, marketing, and/or professional social media experience

* Budgeting experience

* Experience with Asana or similar project management software

* Experience with Raisers Edge or similar fundraising database

Abilities

* Comfort working in, and ability to move about, outdoor spaces on the High Line

* Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
