Job Summary The position of Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Lead Electrical Engineer. This role is accountable for ensuring the Electrical System, from 138kV to Low Voltage, functions safely, efficiently, and reliably, to meet business goals for production while minimizing unscheduled equipment downtime. The complexity of the electrical power systems in both the Liquefaction (LQF) and Pretreatment (PTF) Facilities requires a high level of technical expertise to monitor and evaluate the health of the power system. This role should proactively offer solutions to avoid reliability and availability issues and meet utility connection requirements. The role will provide integrity oversight in the areas of Power System Modeling, Protective Relays, Hazardous Area Classification, and PMCS. In addition, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be required to interface with the Maintenance and Operations teams to assist with troubleshooting as well as providing technical support and act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Power System Modeling, Electrical Protection Systems, High Voltage Cable Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Harmonics, and Gas Turbine Generators. Duties/Responsibilities • Familiar with power distribution within and industrial facility from 480V to 138kV • Familiar with large synchronous machines • Supports technical analysis to identify electrical hazards, evaluate related risks, and assist in the development of effective risk control solutions. • Support the development and/or revision of electrical related standards, procedures, guidelines and plans as required to meet industry standards or regulatory requirements. . • Participate in multidisciplinary incident investigations. • Perform electrical studies and analysis such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash etc. for review by a senior engineer. • Support the development of electrical safe operating and engineering practices at company assets that fully incorporate aspects of company electrical safety standard and NFPA 70E. • Supports the maintanace and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with the emphasis on monitoring and analysis for electricaal systems for predictivie maintenance to achieve increased efficiency and reduced downtime. • Develop electrical scope of work packages for the execution of electrical and/or multi discipline projects . • Actively participate in root cause analysis. • Support maintenance with PM activities. • Develop techinical reports to be reviewed by senior engineer. • Supports timely and accurate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Engineering Service Requests (ESRs) • Supports technical and commercial evaluations of engineering proposals and contracts • Supports and develops multidiscipline Management of Change packages (MOCs) to ensure quality documentation and efficient approval and execution. • Develop as as a subject matter expert on electrical engineering issues • Understand and interpret codes, standards and regulations as they relate to electrical • Developing working knowledge of Engineering Codes and Standards related toelectrical engineering, NFPA,IEEE,ANSI, and others. • Accountable for ensuring the safety, security, health and environmental incidents are prevented through frequent job observations and assessments. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned. Essential Functions • Knowledge of Engineering systems, calculations, applications and operations methods and materials, and engineering application of computers. • Ability to comprehend design specifications, standards, and contracts. • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form. • Ability to conduct efficient meetings. • Ability to develop comprehensive scopes of work. Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Minimum Experience Required: 5+ Years of Electrical Engineering Experience 1+ years of experience in an operating industrial facility Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities • Detail oriented, professional, and reliable • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software. • Possess strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines • Possesses knowledge of engineering fundamentals in a particular discipline. • Possesses basic knowledge of cross-functional project execution. HSE Roles and Responsibilities Support the policies, efforts, and programs of Freeport LNG Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies. Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility. Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions. Working Conditions and Physical Expectations • Operates in a professional office environment within or outside of an industrial plant environment. • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and filing cabinets. • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions. • Possible exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions. • Possible exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits. • Possible exposure to constant, or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
