Job Overview

ASRC Federal Holding Company is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer II to contribute to the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. This role involves supporting the FAA's Terminal Surveillance team, which focuses on two primary types of Terminal Surveillance RADAR systems (ASR-8 and ASR-11). Our engineers are recognized as subject matter experts (SMEs) in the National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and analyze problems related to NAS systems.
  • Determine effective solutions and identify necessary resources.
  • Estimate costs and design solutions for various engineering challenges.
  • Engage in development, integration, and testing of systems.
  • Draft technical and management reports.
  • Create, review, and maintain technical documentation and directives.
  • Provide direct support for NAS-related issues beyond the capabilities of field personnel.
  • Recommend enhancements to system designs or operations.
  • Offer technical support for new system acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute a variety of assignments with limited direction from a Technical Manager or senior engineer.
  • Contribute as an individual or as part of a team.
  • May lead small projects or teams.
  • Utilize engineering principles and knowledge to plan and execute tasks.
  • Demonstrate independence in managing time and resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share information and discuss project statuses.
  • Receive guidance on approaches from a Technical Manager or senior engineer.
  • Propose process improvements.
  • Refer complex issues to a Technical Manager or senior engineer when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements through periodic reviews.
  • Understand that work may impact external project objectives and customer safety.
Qualifications:
  • Strong engineering skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and scripts is advantageous.
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Must pass an FAA background investigation (U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required).
  • Knowledge of physical and engineering sciences, electrical phenomena, and electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience with electrical circuits and systems is essential.
  • Software design and development skills are a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Experience with NAS facilities and systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
