Studio Art Specialist

The Studio Art Specialist provides leadership in the planning and implementation services in a group based vocational art program setting geared towards work in partnership with artists and staff to improve artistic skills and self-determination within the studios.
This position will exercise significant judgment and initiative in art and production in the art world with individuals with disabilities. In addition, the Studio Art Specialist position provides expertise and leadership in one or more of the following areas, including, but not limited to: Art and production, Exhibition, Sale of artwork, Paper Graphics, Painting, Fabric Arts, Weaving, Fibers, Folk Art, Pottery, Art Making, Sculpture, Jewelry, Sewing, Exhibition, Documentation & Communication
The Studio Art Specialist also:
- Assists, teaches, and supervises artists in all areas.
* Provide coverage/assistance, as needed to support opening and closing of facility, daily coverage responsibilities.
* Leads exhibition schedule, theme & timeline for in-house shows. Selects artwork, oversees framing, presentation, and installation
* Supports facilitators as needed in relevant areas.
* Commissions pieces (direct correspondence & delegation).
* Assists in training, supporting new facilitators/ job coaches when hired.
* Maintains cleanliness and organization in studio daily.
* Works at annual events during evenings, as assigned.
* Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in art or art therapy. In some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training.
- One to three years of experience in human services field required. Prior experience teaching strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Art, Art History, Outside Art History, skills in art production, studio art center standards and practices.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least one year, and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check.
- Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications within two weeks of hire and Saftey Care certification with 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, SORI, education verification, employment verification and reference checks.
