DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the record control operation of the institution, and maintain the security and validity of inmate records. You will also provide training and direction to staff members in the Records Office regarding policy, practice, and legal information. In fulfillment of your daily duties, you will collect information from various sources, including the Pennsylvania State Police, Parole Board, and DOC to validate the accuracy of content in the maintenance of inmate records. You will interview, photograph, and fingerprint inmates upon reception and release, and ensure that all necessary information is collected and processed appropriately. You will coordinate transportation for inmates and ensure appropriate authorization is obtained for all releases. Additionally, you will represent the department at extradition hearings or other judicial proceedings when necessary to testify on matters related to inmate identification or sentence status.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Corrections Records Specialist (Commonwealth job title); or
  • One year of experience as a Records Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
  • Four years of clerical or correctional custodial experience that includes two years of specialized records work in a correctional facility; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of specialized records work experience in a correctional facility.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
