Supervisory responsibilities are required.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC instructor certification preferred or must obtained within 1 year after hire
  • PALS and NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually thereafter
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Required

  • 3 years of professional clinical instructor experience
  • 5 years of professional nursing experience with minimum 2 years as staff RN in a specialty (ER, ICU, OB, OR)
  • Prior Emergency Room/Trauma and/or Remote Rural experience preferred
  • May substitute professional clinical instructor experience for clinical nursing experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Two years of supervisory experience required

Position Overview

Provides support services to internal/external customers under direct supervision of the Director of Learning & Development or designee, with latitude for independent decision making.

Designs, teaches, and evaluates training programs.

Acts as an internal training and organizational development consultant. Provides career development resources.

Plans, implements, coordinates, and administers clinical specialty training programs, including human patient simulator training. Provides educational and development services to both professional and non-professional staff to maintain and develop competency.

Oversees the trauma registrar program for the consortium to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements of the state.

Works with the outlying clinics and our hospital in Wrangell to support the trauma program and designation by assisting in setting up the program, overseeing the registries, and maintaining the trauma designations.
