Job Description

The Lead Engineer - Solutions and Systems, is a key member of the Cold Chain Solutions and Systems Engineering group. The Lead Engineer-Solutions and Systems will work with the solutions strategy team and broader OEM/ End user sales and applications engineering teams to drive growth by providing strong technical subject matter expertise in refrigeration system design utilizing our compression, valves and control products. The Lead Engineer will collaborate with our global product/ engineering teams to problem solve, create new and innovative solutions for our customers and drive competitive advantage using advanced dynamic system simulation and modeling tools and system level expertise.

As the Lead Engineer- Solutions and Systems, you will:
  • Have strong knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration engineering design principles at the system level
  • Provide simulation expertise- model based predictions. Modeling of refrigeration / thermal systems using advanced dynamic/ transient modeling tools to model compression/ valves/ control systems and understand system operation and predict problem scenarios
  • Provide problem solving expertise- analyze data, work with product teams to develop near and long-term solutions, collaborate with algorithm and field support teams
  • Collaborate with product teams to provide technical thought leadership, critical thinking, inquisitive approach, and a high degree of independent engineering knowledge to drive innovation and competitive advantage
  • Work with our systems testing lab(s) to validate ideas/ simulations and custom solutions
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline plus 8 years of relevant HVAC/R systems experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of key components in HVAC/R systems including compression, valves and control systems / related algorithms
  • Self-starter, driven, passionate learner across multiple related disciplines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to apply creative thinking
  • Ability to work in a team's setting (internal and external), effective analytical, coordination and verbal communication skills, effective project management skills
  • Ability to travel 5% of your time
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:
  • Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline with expertise in thermodynamics, and various system architectures plus 5 years of relevant HVAC/R systems experience or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Strong understanding of refrigerants, particularly CO2 and its application in refrigeration systems
  • Prior experience using dynamic modeling tools such as GT suite, Dymola, Python coding, hardware-in- loop (HIL) simulation tools
  • Understanding of HVAC/R regulatory energy/ environmental drivers and current industry trends / readiness


FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE - REMOTE WORK OPTION AND CORE HOURS:

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and efficiency as we serve the needs of our customers.
