Provide overall medical and clinical assistance to providers and staff of the assigned service area2. Responsible, with the assistance and cooperation of Area Operations Manager and ProviderScheduler, for the scheduling of all provider shifts3. Responsible for the on-boarding, training, and quality oversight, excluding annual and new hirechart audits, of all providers assigned to designated clinics4. Responsible for recruitment and retention of high quality clinical providersDETAILED ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Works collaboratively with Senior Vice President Medical Operations, Area Operations Manager,Clinical Managers, Clinical Providers, and staffProvides guidance and leadership pursuant to the Provider educational resources within NextCareSupport and provides input into the development of standardized clinical policies and proceduresServes as an organizational leader in the implementation of NextCare initiatives that directly orindirectly impact the provider(s)Provides feedback regarding the purchase of medical equipment, diagnostic service, on-sitepharmacy inventory, and other appropriate services.Defines and analyzes clinical metrics, including documentation errors, coding trends, and theProvider DashboardDefines desired outcomes, prepares the organization for change, if necessary, and manages themomentum of that changeEvaluates clinical and financial ramifications of organizational decisions and provides input andinsight, assuring that NextCare is achieving the best possible outcome, cost effectivelyAssists in the internal and external promotion of NextCareActs as a principal liaison and facilitator, with the involvement of the Senior Vice President MedicalOperations, for conflicts that occur between providers or providers and other NextCare associatesor managementInterfaces with customers, employers and the medical component of health plans as neededSupports local marketing initiativesIn collaboration with the Area Operations Manager and Provider Scheduler, works to ensure that allshifts are covered with adequate medical coverage to ensure minimal wait times for patients 365days of the yearServes a key role in provider recruitment in collaboration with the Provider Recruiter and assists inthe evaluation of provider compensation; serves as a liaison to educational institutions andresidency programsResponsible for hiring, onboarding, and termination of providers in the local area, as applicableProvides a key role in managing and mitigating riskPROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides oversight to and actively implements clinical initiatives and delivery within the organizationAttends and serves, as requested, as a key member on NextCare Committees including, but notlimited to, Clinical Quality & Safety committee, and special task forces and project roll-out teams asappropriateEnsures and fosters collegial relationships with physicians providing services to NextCare UrgentCare clinics via locum tenens agreementServes as a medical resource to providers as well as NextCare associatesIdentifies and promotes opportunities to ensure clinical and provider competence and the deliveryof care in a manner that meets or exceeds community standards of careProvides insight and feedback regarding opportunities for improvement in the delivery of clinicalservices; serves as a resource in the evaluation of patient or referral complaintsIdentifies and provides objective feedback on emerging clinical and technical trendsOnly MD and DO may be required, when requested, to act as the Laboratory Director for assignedclinics providing oversight for the technical operation and performance of the laboratory and workingin cooperation with the Laboratory Services Department's Technical ConsultantsMay be required, when requested, to act as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)Responsible for review of dosimetry reportsMonitoring and evaluation quality assurance activities relating to patient care that includesutilization reviews, risk management and peer review.Manages and supports clinical protocols with measurable and predictable results/outcomesTrains new and existing providers as necessary. Serves as a NextGen Superuser for assigned areaof responsibilityServes as the key local training mentor for providers regarding ongoing documentation and codingtraining, when training need is identifiedProvides guidance and counseling, as needed, in support of NextCare customer service goals.Investigate and manage responses to customer service complaints, consulting with Senior VPMedical Operations, as appropriateIdentifies and assists in the evaluation of new or emerging clinical applicationsEnsures that medicine is practiced in accordance with the appropriate state Medical Practice Act asenforced by the Board of Medical Examiners; stays up to date on Board rulings and changes/potential changes in the Medical Practice ActEnsures compliance with state and Federal licensing requirements, as appropriate. Serves as localresource for Quality Assurance investigations, as needed.Ensures that all Advanced Practice Provider supervision agreements are up-to-date and in forcewhenever an APP is practicing. Ensures that changes to supervision due to provider turnover orother reason are coordinated with the Provider Relations Specialist in a timely manner. Monitorsmonthly APP chart review report and ensures supervisory state and NextCare requirements aremet.Ensures patient rights by maintaining and enforcing patient confidentiality and patient rights issuesamong medical staff issuesServes as local DOT CME subject matter expert for providers and clinic staff. Is thoroughly familiarwith FMCSA and NextCare internal requirements.Only MD or DO may be required to serve as an official "Supervising Physician" for AdvancedPractice Providers in local NextCare clinics when requestedIn coordination with local Clinic Managers, ensures providers meet/maintain all Employee HealthrequirementsMay be required, when requested, to serve as controlled substance site director or pharmacyboard site directorIs expected that, in addition to the above-stated duties and responsibilities, the Associate MedicalDirector will work as a clinical provider a minimum of 8 clinical shifts/month but no more than 12clinical shifts/month, at an agreed-upon hourly wage, separate from the clinic managementcompensation.
