We are looking for an experienced Corporate Communications professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and exhibits grace under pressure. This is a leadership position requiring collaboration with senior management to establish communications strategy, close coordination with business unit leadership, and planning and execution of all initiatives. Experience in media relations and internal corporate communications is required. Responsibilities: External Communications Communicate the company’s corporate story on all fronts. Develop and cultivate direct relationships within key media outlets. Establish key corporate messaging across lines of business and target audiences to elevate brand awareness and position company as a thought leader. Lead writing projects, including corporate press releases, FAQs, editorial placements, earnings release script, and blog posts. Develop annual communications plan, including quantitative goals and success metrics. Create and maintain standard corporate press kit materials. Build relationships with consumer brands to help promote society6 artists, eHow, and Cracked. Work with product marketing to ensure consistency in messaging (consumer marketing & community). Develop strategic announcement and communication plans and execute. Stay abreast of developments within the company regarding products, services, sites, and overall corporate news. Stay abreast of industry news outside of the company regarding trends and competitors and alert relevant audiences. Develop media and blogger lists and build relationships with them (business, tech, and consumer). Manage inbound media requests; coordinate logistics for media interviews. Assist with the planning and coordination of logistics around events as needed. Pitch target media and assist with the coordination and management of DM presence for press interviews at events. Assist with ongoing news and media updates to DM.com. Internal Communications Develop strategies and tactics for communicating company goals, objectives, and results with employees across several offices. Develop and implement strategies for communicating significant events (earnings, acquisitions, product launches, crises situations, etc.). Assist other departments that need to frequently communicate across the organization with their projects (HR, Legal, Stock administration, etc.). Communicate relevant coverage to the entire company, product groups, and/or DM Managers regularly. Requirements: Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior management role either in-house or with an agency. Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Proven ability to establish strong media relationships within the business and/or technology categories. Proven ability to develop and execute successful communications strategies and plans. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Must have great PowerPoint skills with the ability to tell a story. Demonstrated ability to contribute at both a strategic and an operational level. Ability to work with urgent deadlines, flexible priorities, and manage multiple high-priority assignments. Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate effectively externally and at all levels of the organization. Results-driven, energetic, resourceful, and hands-on individual with a strong service orientation. Management level experience in public relations agency and/or high tech companies a plus. Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output. Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialists. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top-tier reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements. Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance an organization's mission and goals.
