Quality Manager Job Description

Job Title: Quality Manager - Mechanical Fastener Industry

Salary: Starting salary $85K + 401K, health insurance

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Manager to join our team in the mechanical fastener industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality throughout the inspection process, from material acquisition to final product delivery. The Quality Manager will develop and implement quality control procedures, oversee inspection processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement quality control procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

2. Implement ISO system

3. Oversee all aspects of the quality management system, including document control, audits, and corrective/preventive actions.

4. Conduct regular inspections and audits of materials and finished products to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with quality standards.

5. Lead and coordinate root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address non-conformities and quality issues.

6. Provide training and guidance to employees on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices.

7. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track quality metrics and performance trends and implement corrective actions as necessary.

8. Work closely with suppliers to evaluate and improve incoming materials quality and resolve quality-related issues.

9. Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, complaints, and feedback, and work to resolve issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.

10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

1. Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality management, preferably in the mechanical fastener industry.

3. Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and methodologies (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).

4. Experience with quality tools and techniques such as a comparator and other measuring equipment.

5. Proven track record of leading quality improvement initiatives and driving measurable results.

6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve quality issues.

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

8. Detail-oriented with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and integrity.

9. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) designation is a plus.

10. Proficiency in quality management software and tools.

Key Accountabilities for the Quality Manager in the Mechanical Fastener Industry:

1. Establishing Quality Standards: Set and maintain quality standards for all aspects of the inspection process, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.

2. Developing Quality Procedures: Design and implement quality control procedures and protocols for inspecting materials, monitoring processes, and evaluating finished products.

3. Leading Quality Assurance Initiatives: Take the lead in developing and executing quality assurance plans, including conducting risk assessments, identifying critical control points, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

4. Conducting Inspections and Audits: Oversee regular inspections and audits to assess product quality, process efficiency, and compliance with quality standards. This includes monitoring evaluating supplier performance, and assessing internal quality systems.

5. Driving Continuous Improvement: Actively promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, reduce defects, and improve operational efficiency. Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts.

6. Training and Development: Provide training and support to employees at all levels to ensure understanding and adherence to quality standards and procedures. Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

7. Supplier Management: Collaborate with procurement to evaluate supplier quality performance, conduct supplier audits, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality materials and products.

8. Customer Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, complaints, and feedback. Work closely with customers to address concerns, resolve issues, and maintain strong relationships built on trust and satisfaction.

9. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of quality-related activities, including inspection reports, non-conformity reports, corrective actions, and quality metrics. Generate regular reports to track key performance indicators and communicate quality performance to management.

10. Compliance and Certification: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100). Coordinate external audits and certifications processes, and work to continuously improve compliance efforts.
