Description

Function: This position is responsible for providing individual financial advice and counseling to retail customers referred through the bank branches. The advisor will work to meet a set of sales goals mutually agreed upon by the Bank and Cetera. When working with customers, the advisor will typically handle less complex accounts and will incorporate both fee-based solutions and other financial products as appropriate. These products could include: brokerage products, fixed and variable annuities, mutual funds and insurance products. The advisor provides ongoing financial advice and counseling to existing customers, and refers customers to the Bank for bank related products and services as appropriate.

Duties:

•Provides individual financial advice and counseling to retail customers referred through the bank branches, incorporating both fee-based solutions and also other alternatives as appropriate including brokerage products, fixed and variable annuities, mutual funds, and insurance products according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines.

•Ensures that work, is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, including but not limited to Fair Lending, Know Your Customer, Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering policies.

•Generates customer referrals through assigned branch(s) and also through personal prospecting. Establishes strong business relationships with branch personnel involved in generating customer leads and prospects and ensures they have information and training necessary to refer business to the financial advisor. Advises branch staff on how to address customers' needs regarding financial counseling, determine potential customer investable assets and other important details to ensure steady referral flow and high level of overall customer service in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

•Generate additional referrals for new business from satisfied clients as well as through developing network of outside referral sources. Researches markets, identifies individuals and organizations likely to produce referrals and develop relationships to establish a referral flow; ensure referral sources have current information on investment products and services.

•Make sales calls by phone and in person, through own contacts or from branch generated leads according to established policies and procedures and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines; provides individual customer financial planning and counseling and sells non-deposit investment products, including mutual funds, variable/fixed annuities, individual stocks and bonds and life insurance and long-term care products.

•Generates referrals for client/customer investment sales opportunities and cross sells to other company business lines. Maintains network of outside referral sources; researches market, identifying individuals and organizations likely to produce referrals and develops relationships to increase the referral flow; ensures referral sources have current information on investment planning products and services.

•Develops plan to achieve sales goals, in terms of specific actions and steps needed as well as planning and managing time effectively.

•Informs management of progress relative to goals and asks for assistance for training and for other issues as needed.

•Gathers comprehensive information about customer financial situation and goals, including such areas as retirement planning, educational planning and other objectives. Develops understanding of individual customer objectives based on thorough interviews, conversations and other research. Completes documentation required to establish suitability as directed by management. Assists customers with transferring assets and coordinates with customer's current financial institutions as needed to facilitate transition process.

•Develops individual customer financial advice and strategies based on information provided by customer as well as company guidelines. Reviews recommendations with supervisor as needed to resolve any questions. Includes recommendations primarily for fee based approach to managing customer accounts, but may recommend sale of individual investment products as appropriate.

•Presents completed financial strategy to customers. Explains information and recommendations, ensures understanding and answers questions. Explain how strategy reflects individual customer situations, based on information customer has provided. Responds to customer concerns and makes changes to recommendations as needed.

•Provides ongoing financial advice/recommendations and counsel to clients. Reviews and updates plans at least annually and as required and also based on changes to client situations, such as retirement, birth of a child, changing jobs and others circumstances, and guides customers to best course of action.

•Maintains proper documentation and paperwork, and files required activity reports to management as needed; complies with applicable laws and regulations and organizes and maintains various compliance files, including advertising, complaint and correspondence.

•Maintains knowledge of current industry practices and trends and full array of company products and services for cross referrals to other company business lines through industry contacts and by attending continuing education training and seminars. Meets continuing education requirements of broker-dealer, registered investment advisor, state insurance departments and the company.

•Participates in civic activities to promote growth and development of the community and a positive image for the company.

Participates in special projects and performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

1-2 years related experience preferred.

Must possess and maintain applicable certifications and licenses including FINRA Series 7, 63, 65/66 and Health & Life Insurance License.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

•Knowledge of retail investment industry preferred, including financial counseling, investment advice, and fee based, and investment product sales as well as related Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations

•Sales ability and interpersonal skills

•Ability to clearly and effectively communicate investment and financial information

•Possesses and demonstrates strong organizational skills

•Ability to effectively communicate to build strong and productive working relationships with clients and business partners, including ability to gain and maintain client trust.

•Self-directed, with ability to plan own activities to achieve sales goals.

•Good time management skills.

•PC skills and knowledge of financial software helpful.
