POSITION SUMMARY

The Risk Management Associate position requires a dynamic, industrious, and detail-oriented individual.? Reporting to the Corporate Risk & Insurance Manager, this role will have responsibility for being the front-line initial contact for all workers compensation claims, obtaining investigation reports, medical records and wage loss information and submitting WC claims to the insurance carrier as needed, provide assistance and serve as back-up for the Driver Qualification Program and Compliance Analyst/Drug and Alcohol Program, and work with Risk Manager in obtaining case related documents needed in discovery for ongoing litigation.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

Duties, Responsibilities and Expected Contributions

Business/Functional Results
•Serves as front line initial contact for all reported injuries and workers compensation claims.
•Review and document all reported injuries from Medcor Injury Triage Assessment Service and analyze to determine if claim should be handled in-house or submitted to insurance carrier for case management.
•Document and diary workers compensation files into database and keep Risk Manager informed of developments.
•Facilitate return-to-work of injured employees through reasonable accommodation programs and medical case management.
•Ensure managers are aware of accommodation/work restrictions and comply with restricted work duties and secure Personnel Action Forms (PAF's).
•Work with Payroll to ensure wage loss information is provided to adjuster in a timely manner.
•Assist in handling in-house auto damage claims and assign auto claim to the insurance carrier (as needed).
•Conduct timely and thorough subrogation investigations and timely completion of all claims involving recovery potential and maintain spreadsheet for quarterly review.
•Provide assistance and serve as back-up for the Compliance Analyst/Drug and Alcohol Program.
•Provide assistance and serve as back-up for the Driver Qualification Program.
•Manage the company's random Drug and Alcohol Screening program.
•Complete NCMS documentation.
•Assist Risk Manager in obtaining case related documents.

Position Requirements:

A. Experience Required
•Minimum three (3) years claims related experience in workers' compensation.
•North Carolina adjuster license preferred but not required.
•Experience and working knowledge of claims litigation.
•Experience communicating and negotiating with insurance companies.
•Working knowledge of legal and medical terminology.
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to work with confidential information appropriately.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, employees, third party administrators, insurance carriers, claims handlers and defense counsel.
