Transportation Specialist- Liquid Products

Each day, we collectively explore new, innovative ways to enhance product performance and value through our broad human and animal nutrition portfolios.We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as a healthy 401(k) company match program.The Transportation Specialist position for liquid products has responsibility for inbound and outbound freight coordination on all liquid products to and from all MSG plants, toll, and customer locations (includes overseeing trucking schedules, negotiating rates and selecting carriers). This position will ensure primary and secondary carriers are defined for all lanes that meet supply needs, customer needs, and landed cost targets.Essential Responsibilities:Negotiate rates, and carrier selection for all inbound and outbound trucking vendors. This includes liquid whey, permeate, and fat transportation vendors.Manage all liquid freight audit and payment functions to ensure freight invoices align with all negotiated contract and spot rates.Maintain and distribute quarterly cost reporting by lane for all liquid shipment categories. Evaluate best cost options for all lanes of liquid product category and transport types.Responsibility to maintain all liquid freight rate matrixes to ensure landed cost accuracy on liquid purchases and liquid customer shipments.Coordinate and lead continuous move, backhaul initiatives, and heavy loading opportunities.Responsibility for maintaining material transport/QA policies for all liquid product shipments as well as kosher certification documentation for carriers.Lead freight administration and payment efforts to ensure accurate and timely freight cost reporting for $27MM of annual liquid transportation spend. Approve weekly freight invoices and resolve exceptions.Evaluate potential opportunities to outsource freight billing and logistics.Identify and drive best practices for loading and transport of liquid products from all suppliers, MSG plants, Toll manufacturers, as appropriate.Collaborate with liquid procurement and plant intakes to ensure best practices are utilized across all liquid shipments and receiving activity.Position Requirements:Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field.Minimum 5 years' experience in Logistics and carrier management.Background in Microsoft office and freight scheduling &/or rating toolsAbility to respond to plant and carrier needs afterhours as needed.Experience in rate negotiations.Experience in supporting production and liquid intake operations.A "roll up your sleeves" work style.Excellent communication skillsResults DrivenAnalytical and data analysisAbility to work in fast paced, changing transportation environment.Previous experience with transportation shipments preferred.
