ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to use Glovia MRP system and appropriate exception reports to plan purchases and control inventory.

Consults with vendors to obtain product and service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.

Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or request for quote (RFQ).

Prepares purchase orders and RFQ's.

Reviews quotations and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Maintains procurement records for items or services purchased that includes costs, delivery, product quality, performance, and inventory.

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

Troubleshoots and communicates unexpected delays so as to keep the supply chain uninterrupted, requiring constant communication with vendors.

Responsible for obtaining favorable purchase price variance (PPV), excess and inactive inventory reductions, inventory turns, lead-time reduction and on-time vendor performance as part of agreed upon goals and measurements each the start of each fiscal year.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requirements include APP or CPM, blueprint skills, and various purchasing related duties including negotiating, cost containment, supply chain, and computer skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must possess good project management skill and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Individual will posses strong communication and problem solving skills.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is desired.May require 20% travel.
