As we plan to expand our sourcing channels and introduce additional product lines, we are looking for a talented individual to be our VP of Procurement.
What you will do:
Lead all procurement activities and expand sourcing channels; your primary objective is to ensure the smooth operations of all sourcing and procurement activities, including new vendor selection, existing vendor management, purchase requisitions, pricing/MOQ negotiations, sample requests, and logistics arrangements. You will also oversee the expansion of sourcing channels to high quality and competitively priced suppliers, with a focus on vetting and sourcing from Chinese suppliers.
Continuously improve procurement processes; you will proactively look for ways to improve and optimize every element of the procurement and sourcing process. You will enhance procurement efficiencies by implementing improvements using current budgets and resources. You will affect positive change to our procurement lead times, purchasing costs, and vendor quality targets in order to reduce overall production cycles and meet production targets.
Coordinate the use of alternative or under-utilized materials in the R&D and manufacturing process; you will collaborate closely with the Manufacturing department during the new cabinet line development process to provide technical specifications and proper usage guidelines for PVC and other construction materials. You will oversee effective cost management for construction raw materials used during the manufacturing process, and develop strategies to reduce cost of goods sold while maintaining quality.
Manage the Purchasing & Inventory department; you will provide leadership, inspiration, and motivation to the Purchasing & Inventory department, and will empower team members to reach their full potential through training and mentoring. You will provide clear direction on tasks and deadlines, and appoint project task groups as needed. Together, you will facilitate increased efficiency and streamlining in the procurement process by leveraging results-focused methodologies.
Collaborate across departments; as the divisional head of the Purchasing & Inventory department, you will work closely with the leaders of other departments, including Warehouse & Logistics, Manufacturing, and Sales & Distribution. Through thorough understanding of the companys production technologies, product development capabilities, and sales direction, you will collaborate synergistically with other department heads to optimize overall processes and introduce new efficiencies and innovations.
Who you are:
An experienced industry professional; you have at minimum a college diploma and 5 or more years of management experience in sourcing and procurement for finished products, hardware and raw materials used in cabinet making. You are familiar with sourcing from China and the attendant benefits and challenges, and ideally already have a supplier network you work with. You know that the purchasing landscape is constantly changing, and can skilfully navigate relationships with suppliers to ensure uninterrupted PVC supply at competitive prices and minimal lead times.
A team leader and effective manager; you understand how to quickly build rapport and trust with your team and guide them to greater operational efficiency. You are able to collaborate with different divisional leaders and work in cross-functional teams to bring forth greater innovation.
Budget-conscious and forward-thinking; as a purchasing professional, you are deeply aware that cost is always a factor, and always seek to reduce purchasing costs while maintaining the high quality that we are known for. You are able to identify and resolve any potential procurement issues so our production schedules stay on track, and suggest improvements and optimizations to reduce overall sourcing lead times.
Experience with relevant supplier management systems and methodologies; you have experience in ERP implementation and have worked with Microsoft Dynamics/SAP or other similar ERP systems.
