Summary of This Role The Cloud DevOps Engineer will play a key role in enabling Global Payments’ adoptions of Cloud-based services in order to maintain its leading position as an innovative, software-driven payments provider. As well as being responsible for the development and 24x7 operation of our Cloud baselines, the role holder will form a deep understanding of GPN cloud baseline technologies and processes and use that knowledge as a cloud technology SME, providing demos, education, mentoring, and consultancy to a range of internal teams, as well as providing guidance to clients and other external entities when necessary. The role holder will have knowledge of cloud best practice for securing, operating and maintaining cloud workloads. You will be immersed in

Infrastructure-as-Code,

Policy-as-Code and act as a role model to the technical teams that also contribute to the Cloud baselines. You will also be encouraged to form specialisms in specific technology areas supporting cloud baseline services and processes such as networking, security, CI/CD etc. This role provides 24x7 support for AWS Cloud baseline services, working with the Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC) you will respond to critical cloud baseline issues and help drive the investigation and return to service. What Part Will You Play? At all times demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement, understanding and meeting customer requirements, team member learning and maintaining excellent peer relationships. Knowledgeable in Paas/IaaS cloud infrastructure with strong focus on networking and security. Experience in building and supporting CI/CD tools and processes. Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to analyse complex technology problems. Always ready to learn, coach, peer review and provide feedback on other engineers' work. Proven experience with DevOps and Agile practices. Install, configure, evaluate and make recommendations regarding infrastructure as code as a subject matter expert. Contribute to product design, helping the team break down and understand large and complex tasks. Maintain awareness of quality standards, assuring solutions are compatible with disaster recovery, patching, compliance, monitoring requirements for ongoing support and maintenance activities. Review team deliverables and uphold the standards across the team. Deploy changes in accordance with the change control process; assist with the creation and updating of change control process guidelines. Support team members with change control process and escalations. Create and update platform documentation. Mentor less experienced team members and provide small group training and knowledge transfer. Continuously evaluate all systems and processes for service improvements. Ensure skills are updated by attending the appropriate courses, use of reference materials, Internet resources, and vendor sponsored seminars. Coach and train team members using your own training experience. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. Relevant Experience or Degree in: IT, Computer Science, MIS or Business or equivalent work experience, such as relevant technical background and/or work product/SME knowledge in lieu of a degree. Typically Minimum 8+ Years Relevant Exp. Cloud Computing, DevOps technologies, Coding, Designing and Developing. Preferred Qualifications Certifications in Cloud computing and associated technologies, in particular AWS & GCP. Relevant cloud security certifications. What Are Our Desired Skills and Capabilities? Current understanding of best practices for operating in Cloud environments. Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures. Full stack experience in an Agile environment.
