Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the CORE Center Manager of Patient Access, the Patient Appointment Specialist (PAS) will provide access to medical appointments, primary and specialty care services, access to behavioral health & social service team members, and access to nursing care visits via scheduling and/or direct communication with department leads and providers. The PAS will maintain clinics assigned to the staff member; maintain overbook request for all resources; schedule patient appointments; add new providers to books; inactivate old providers from books; revise patient history; maintain reports of interpreter request in house and over the phone; provide support to all Patient Access department staff; coordinate and maintain the Central Appointments Office; maintain and coordinate main switchboard; answer CORE incoming calls; prepare clinic reports as needed; provide administrative support; schedule specialty referrals assigned by the Specialty Care Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities:

Schedule patient appointments using the Cerner electronic medical record.

Rescheduling patient appointments, opening and closing providers schedules, creating make-up clinics for providers; make appointment reminder calls, and update patient insurance

Responds to patient portal messages, voice mail request, incoming call for appointments, and connections to other multidisciplinary team members.

Provide coverage of the CORE Center

Assist in coordinating coverage for Central

Composition and typing of correspondence via email to providers, nurses, and supportive staff.

Provide administrative support, including taking minutes in assigned Patient Access team

Assist in coordinating and maintaining office supplies in the administrative

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and Specialty Care coordinator.

Qualifications: High school diploma, required, Bilingual skills required. Advance knowledge in computer skills, word-processing and database management programs, preferred. Knowledge in Cerner Scheduling System and IRIS Referral System. Minimum one year health care experience with the knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications. Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
