As a Mortgage Loan Representative, you will source, market, originate and close new member and
existing member associated mortgage business, including both first and second lien and home
equity (HEQ) loans. You will leverage your own sphere of influence (SOI) and business
development (BD) activities to meet and exceed assigned production targets. The Mortgage
Loan Representative analyzes loan requests, determines product availability and suitability,
reviews member documentation and makes initial loan qualification recommendations based on
OCCU requirements.

Every day you will:

  • Consistently demonstrates alignment with OCCU vision and values.
  • Market and originate new loans from referrals both inside and outside OCCU using
    appropriate and approved marketing and BD practices.
  • Assist borrowers in helping them determine appropriate product suitability for their
    needs.
  • Manage OCCU Mortgage Lending referrals. Assist walk-in members and appointments
    made by branch staff for all mortgage lending scenarios, inquires and application
    requests.
  • Network and build relationships outside of OCCU by marketing, developing, originating
    and closing self-sourced business.
  • Partner with management to create and drive a working business development plan.
  • Review and analyze initial loan application submitted by members and/or assist
    members in completing initial loan application for qualification review.
  • Request, secure and review application information and supporting documentation, to
    determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet applicable guidelines,
    including but not limited to FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, Investor and/or OCCU.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of OCCU, Investor and GSE guidelines (Fannie Mae/
    Freddie Mac/ Ginnie Mae).
  • Stay informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending. Prepare and present educational seminars for realtors on credit union real estate products.
  • Present appropriate loan terms and pricing options to members.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of GSE Guidelines (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac)
  • Operate under regulatory, quality control and department required timelines. Proactively identify and communicate issues which may prevent reaching these timelines.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive, confidential and proprietary Credit Union information.
  • Must follow all BSA regulations, including completing CTR reports when applicable, reporting suspicious activity via SAR when applicable and completing annual training.
  • Must maintain licensing and relevant updates with the NMLS Safe Act website including address changes, name changes and other relevant personal information changes required by NMLS. Annually renew licensing in the timeline allotted by NMLS.
  • Must be eligible to perform origination functions on loans sold to Fannie Mae. (Eligibility is determined through public database screening.)
To thrive in this role, you must have:
  • A minimum of two years of similar or related experience of real estate lending/sales experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable form of transportation. This position will include a reasonable amount of driving, including but not limited to outside partner offices, trade association events, meetings with partners, and borrower/members. OCCU does not provide a vehicle for this purpose and mileage will be reimbursed as necessary for travel in excess of 20 miles.
  • Associate's degree required and/or relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills
and abilities required for the position will be considered in lieu of the outlined requirements
